The Frighteners is a fun horror movie about a psychic investigator that employs ghosts to swindle people. Some people don’t know that before Peter Jackson made Middle Earth his home, he made horror films. If it weren’t for those darn teenagers always killing themselves.
This reversal of the “hillbilly-psycho film” follows the humorous and gory adventures of two country boys, who just want to fix up their cabin. Rosemary’s Baby begins slow at first slow but builds to brilliant and inevitable conclusion. This classic of the “Satanic Panic” genre is a brilliant example of horror running like a freight train. Featuring charming and sympathetic characters, The Innkeepers takes the audience from safety, ramping up to edge of your seat dread in the final reel. If tension is your thing, I can’t recommend this film more highly.
